Mission
OIG’s mission is to provide objective oversight to promote the economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity of CYFD programs, as well as the safety and welfare of the people the agency serves as well as its employees.
Vision
OIG’s vision is to drive positive change in CYFD programs and in the lives of the families served by these programs.

Investigations
1. Fraud, waste, and abuse: Investigates practices by CYFD employees that are inconsistent with sound fiscal, business, or clinical practices that result in unnecessary costs to the agency. Investigates intentional deception or misrepresentation by CYFD employees with the knowledge that the deception could benefit themselves. Investigates overutilization of services or other practices that result in unnecessary costs.
2. Level II Resource Parent Grievances: Investigates violations of the resource parent bill of rights. Works with Office of Advocacy to advocate for resource parents.
3. Youth Bill of Rights Violations: Works with Office of Advocacy to advocate for youth.
4. SAP04: Investigates allegations of abuse and neglect in JJS facilities. Provides recommendations for change /improvement in facilities.
5. Program Audits: Conducts data-driven reviews and investigations to help ensure beneficiaries of our services are receiving effective services.
6. Other investigations requested by the Cabinet Secretary, Deputy Cabinet Secretaries, or Division Directors.
